“Anyone Can Win” Contest Winners!

Congratulations to the four winners of the “Anyone Can Win” contest! Many thanks to all the members who entered and all the little sewers who were sponsored by a member. Here are the winners, but all entries will be posted up on the ASG website very soon.  Many, Many thanks to the sponsors of this contest: Singer Co, Gutermann Thread, Nancy’s Notions, and Creative Publishing International. Of course, Simplicity Pattern Company, you rock!

Member Category (adult):

Grand Prize winner is Betty Brees! Description on her entry form is as follows: “Silk outer fabric and lining. Ribbon trim as shown by Kenneth King in Threads magazine”.  Betty used the Simplicity/ASG jacket pattern 2284. She wins a Singer Futura XL400 Sewing & Embroidery machine!!  Her membership is affiliated with the Wichita, Kansas chapter where she serves on the chapter Board as secretary. (Psst … watch for a really fab guest post from Betty next week right here. Hint: men’s ties).

Second Place Winner is Valarie Fisher, also a member affiliated with the Wichita, Kansas chapter (what’s in the water up there in Wichita?). She used Simplicity/ASG pattern 1916 for her knit top. Valarie wins a Gutermann Sew-All polyester thread cabinet!!

Under-18 Category (sponsored by an ASG member):

Grand Prize winner is Hayley Evans, age 9! Hayley was sponsored by ASG member Janith Bergeron, of the Calais, Maine chapter. Her entry is titled “Pretty in Pink” and she used Simplicity/ASG pattern 1927. This dress travelled to Germany this summer so that Hayley could show it off to her grandma and cousins!  She wins a $100 gift certificate to be used on www.nancysnotions.com !!

Second Place winner is Eislin Tolley, sponsored by ASG member Mary Sue Harrell of the Evansville, Indiana chapter. Eislin also used Simplicity/ASG pattern 1927 and combined a black/white print with lime green and hot pink accents! She wins a $50 gift certificate to be used on www.nancysnotions.com !

Both our adorable under-18 winners also receive copies of “Singer New Sewing Essentials” and “Singer Simple Sewing” from Creative Publishing International.

It was a very exciting opportunity for me to mentor three young girls for the contest. They each made adorable ensembles. Cannot wait to see what patterns are chosen for next year’s contest.
