      Katrina Orsini is a textile historian and educator. She is the program associate for academic engagement at The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum where teaches courses including AMST 3950: The Social Lives of Textiles and SUST 2005: Responsible Fashion and is the curriculum designer of the Textiles and Dress Studies program. Orsini is the curator of Source Material: Lessons in Responsible Fashion and has published on sustainability pedagogy in museums. She holds a Bachelor’s from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s from Parsons School of Design. Orsini previously served as a Smithsonian Fellow at the Cooper Hewitt, the Smithsonian Design Museum.

      Marty Ornish is a quirky fun sustainable fiber artist. Many of her designs are from thread worn deconstructed and reconstructed quilts as her pallet. Her zero waste designs are created from cast off scraps, found objects, and deadstock fabric. She recreates clothing, quilts, jackets and even boots.

      Ashley Wynn, owner of Outstanding Organizers, will present “Sew Organized: Tips, Tricks & Smart Storage for Your Sewing Life”.  In her presentation, Ashley will cover how to make your sewing space functional & inspiring; share creative, budget-friendly storage solutions; and provide practical tips for organizing projects and supplies.

      Lorraine Henry, sewing, fit and alterations specialist will talk about the Two Easy Measuring Tape System she developed that enables us to accurately measure and fit ourselves in all those hard-to-reach places. So helpful when a sewing buddy isn’t available! Lorraine will also share tips for fitting and pattern alterations.

      With Bob Purcell, YLI Threads, President and Thread Master. Become a THREAD MASTER at Thread Mastery Institute (TMI). Bob will draw on his 28 years of thread experience and explain thread, needles, and tension in ways that really make sense. You will learn thread types and characteristics and when to use which types; thread weights explained; needles; tension settings; and problem solving. Bob will solve 98% of thread/needle/tension issues.
