  • Description

Skip the endless trial-and-error and learn a streamlined approach to fitting pants that truly work for your body. In this class, you’ll discover how to become body aware—recognizing your unique shape and translating it into customized pattern adjustments that save time and frustration.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to identify body-specific fitting issues (like a tilted waistline or prominent inner thighs) by observing your shape in the mirror.
  • Practical demonstrations of what each fitting variation looks like and how to adjust your paper pattern pieces accordingly.
  • Step-by-step preparation of your pattern pieces, plus how to cut and sew a single-leg muslin forefficient testing and why a separate pants-fitting waistband is a game changer and how to use it effectively. This process is inspired by Top Down Center Out and R. Collins’ Threads article “Practical Pants Fitting” (Issue #218), adapted into a clear, accessible method you can use again and again.
  • Techniques for balancing the front and back leg vertically and maximizing the work you can accomplish with a half muslin before progressing to a two-leg muslin.
  • How to fine-tune your fit with the two-leg muslin for a polished, personalized pants pattern.

After the lesson, join me for a Pants Fitting Q&A, where you’ll have the chance to ask questions, trou-bleshoot your own fitting journey, and gain confidence in achieving pants that fit and flatter.

Pants Fitting Follow-Up Q&A

Your pants fitting journey doesn’t end after the first class—it’s just beginning! A few weeks into the process, you may find yourself with new questions, discoveries, or challenges as you work through your muslins and pattern adjustments. This live Q&A session is designed to give you the support you need right where you are in your fitting adventure.

  • Bring your muslins, notes, and fitting experiences to share.
  • Ask specific questions about the adjustments you’ve tried and the results you’re seeing.
  • Get guidance on troubleshooting common fitting roadblocks and refining your pattern.
  • Learn from fellow sewists’ questions and solutions—it’s a collaborative space to grow your skills.
Whether you’re still working on your single-leg muslin or fine-tuning your two-leg version, this session will help you move forward with confidence
